No Garmin fēnix, epix or Enduro has a HYROX mode as of October 2026. The fēnix 8, fēnix 9, fēnix E and Enduro 3 manuals list Mixed Session and Obstacle Racing; the fēnix 7, 6 Pro, epix and Enduro 2 manuals list Obstacle Racing. Each of these models runs Hybrid Smash, a Connect IQ app that names every split.
Key takeaways
- As of October 2026, none of the 11 fēnix, epix and Enduro manuals we searched mentions HYROX.
- Garmin's built-in options come with the watch; Hybrid Smash is a one-time purchase on the Connect IQ store.
- Hybrid Smash takes one LAP press per changeover: 32 for a full Race Day with Rox Zones on.
- As of October 2026, Hybrid Smash isn't available for the fēnix 5 Plus series: record Garmin's Treadmill activity or a run with GPS off, and press LAP at every changeover.

Built-in activities: full-text searches of each model's Garmin owner's manual, dated as shown, such as the fēnix 8 and fēnix 7 manuals. "Not in manual" means not in the manual checked; later firmware may add it. We found no Enduro 4 manual online on 7 Oct 2026. Hybrid Smash: its Connect IQ listing, checked 7 Oct 2026.
Every manual in the table documents lap recording, so a run with a LAP press at every changeover works on each of those watches.
As of October 2026, Hybrid Smash's Connect IQ listing includes the fēnix 6 Pro, 7, 7 Pro, 8, 8 Pro, E, 9 and 9 Pro. It also lists the epix (Gen 2), the epix Pro and the Enduro 2, 3 and 4. It doesn't include the fēnix 5 Plus series, the standard fēnix 6 or 6S, or the first Enduro.
How to read it:
- Obstacle Racing is a running activity: you press LAP at the start and end of each obstacle, here each station.
- Mixed Session is a generic Garmin multisport activity on newer watches that saves several activities as one; each switch takes a stop, a Next Activity pick and a restart.
- Custom multisport is a multisport activity you build in advance from two or more activities, with optional transitions.
- Hybrid Smash is a Connect IQ watch app. Connect IQ is Garmin's platform and store for third-party watch apps, data fields and watch faces.
None of Garmin's built-in options names the eight HYROX stations. Hybrid Smash names each run, station and Roxzone, the transition area between the running course and the workout stations.

For Forerunner, Venu, tactix and other Garmin families, check any Garmin model for HYROX.
What does Hybrid Smash add on a fēnix, epix or Enduro?
For HYROX race day on a Garmin, Hybrid Smash's Race Day mode times every run, station and Roxzone with one LAP press per changeover, using the race format and the station targets for your weight class, and saves the race to Garmin Connect.
It doesn't rely on Obstacle Racing, Mixed Session or multisport. So the same Race Day flow runs on every model it's listed for, from the fēnix 6 Pro to the fēnix 9.
Hybrid Smash doesn't detect stations automatically: you press LAP at every changeover. The app already knows what comes next, so each press closes one segment and names the next.
A short buzz confirms every LAP press, so you don't have to look at the watch.
Where it does more than Garmin's built-in options:
- Named at every press. A full Race Day takes 32 LAP presses with Rox Zones on, or 17 with it off, and each press names the next segment. Obstacle Racing's laps carry no station names, and Mixed Session takes four steps at every switch.
- Instant undo. DOWN undoes a mistaken press at once, while Garmin's own lap undo gives you a few seconds and isn't available in gym activities or workouts.
- Targets for your weight class. Station weights and distances match the weight class you choose, and Wall Balls are 100 reps in every class.
- Sims and gym sessions too. Hyrox Sim is the full race format with every setting adjustable, so you can scale distances, weights and run length. Free Training (a free-form mode: you choose each next station as you go) works with no phone, no setup and up to 20 picks.
Race Day has two settings you can change, your target pace and your Run Type. Everything else follows the race format and your weight class.

Garmin has no HYROX activity type, so Hybrid Smash saves your session as Indoor Run, Outdoor Run or Cardio, depending on the Run Type you pick. Every segment is a lap, and the station name is stored with each lap.
Before race day, read what to press at every changeover or Race Day in the user guide.
Which method fits: a HYROX app or a built-in activity?
For named splits with one LAP press per changeover, use a HYROX app such as Hybrid Smash. For an option that comes with the watch, use Obstacle Racing: press LAP at the start and end of each station. Every manual in the first table lists it, except the fēnix 5 Plus manual.
| Method | Which watches | At each changeover | Station names | Roxzone split | Cost (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hybrid Smash | Every model in the first table except the fēnix 5 Plus, standard fēnix 6 and first Enduro | 1 LAP press, with the next segment already named | Yes, on each lap | Yes, with Rox Zones on | €9.99 / US$8.49 one-time, Connect IQ store |
| Obstacle Racing | Every checked model in the first table except the fēnix 5 Plus | LAP at the start and end of each station | No | No | Included with the watch |
| Mixed Session | fēnix 8, fēnix 9, fēnix E, Enduro 3 | Stop, Next Activity, pick, START | No | No Roxzone leg | Included with the watch |
| Custom multisport | Every checked model in the first table, set up in advance | LAP, per Garmin's triathlon steps: a press on older models, a hold on the fēnix 8, 9, E and Enduro 3 | No | Only as an unnamed transition | Included with the watch |
Garmin owner's manuals, dated as in the first table; Hybrid Smash V26.2 and its Connect IQ listing. Checked 7 Oct 2026 (euro price: 6 Oct 2026); prices vary by region.
Of these four methods, only Hybrid Smash names each split. We make Hybrid Smash, so its row sticks to documented facts, like the Garmin rows.
Garmin's own options cost nothing, need no install and are already on your watch. Mixed Session also saves a time for each leg.
Setup and limits: Obstacle Racing for HYROX and Mixed Session on race day.
Three of the four methods use the LAP button. On every model in the table whose manual we checked, that's the lower-right button, so you can press it by feel.

HYROX on a Garmin fēnix 8 or fēnix 9
As of October 2026, neither the fēnix 8 nor the fēnix 9 has a HYROX mode. Both have all three of Garmin's built-in options for HYROX: Obstacle Racing, Mixed Session and custom multisport.
The fēnix 8 manual (September 2026) also covers the fēnix 8 Pro. The fēnix 9 manual (August 2026) covers the fēnix 9 Pro. Neither mentions HYROX.
DC Rainmaker's fēnix 9 review (18 September 2026) lists Obstacle Racing and Mixed Session among the watch's sport profiles, and no HYROX profile.
Where to find each one on these watches:
- Obstacle Racing: START → Activities → Running → Obstacle Racing.
- Mixed Session: START → Activities → Multisport → Mixed Session. Both manuals warn: "Not all activities are available during a mixed session."
- Custom multisport: START → Activities → Edit → Add → Multisport → Custom. In Garmin's triathlon steps for these watches, you hold the lower-right button to change sport.
Garmin's manuals don't say whether a custom multisport activity changes leg the same way as a triathlon, so test it on your watch before race day.
Two claims about these watches come up online. Here are the facts:
| Claim | Fact, as of October 2026 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| The fēnix 7, 7 Pro and 8, epix Pro and Enduro 3 have an "official Hyrox activity profile" that auto-detects stations (hyroxvault.com, 3 Mar 2026) | No Garmin watch has a HYROX profile, and no Garmin activity auto-detects HYROX stations | fēnix 8 and 9 manuals, Aug–Sep 2026 |
| Mixed Session is Garmin's HYROX mode (seen in watch coverage) | Mixed Session is a generic multisport activity for any mix of sports, with no station names or Roxzone | fēnix 8 manual, Sep 2026 |
As of October 2026, Hybrid Smash's Connect IQ listing includes the fēnix 8 AMOLED, Solar, Dual Power and Pro editions, and the fēnix 9 and 9 Pro. To time a race with it:
- Set your Weight Class in Hybrid Smash's Settings before your first session.
- Turn Auto Pause off in your watch's activity settings, for running and for the Cardio activity type.
- Open Race Day, select View & Start and press SELECT.
- Press LAP at every changeover. DOWN undoes a press made by mistake.
- Choose Save & Exit when the watch shows COMPLETED and Remember to Save.

HYROX on a Garmin fēnix E
The fēnix E has no HYROX mode as of October 2026. Like the fēnix 8, its September 2026 manual lists Obstacle Racing, Mixed Session and custom multisport, in the same menus.
As of October 2026, Hybrid Smash is on the Connect IQ listing for the fēnix E.
HYROX on a Garmin epix Pro or epix (Gen 2)
On an epix Pro (Gen 2) or epix (Gen 2), the built-in options for HYROX are Obstacle Racing and custom multisport. Their shared manual (August 2025) doesn't list Mixed Session or mention HYROX, so the epix matches the fēnix 7 here.
As of October 2026, Hybrid Smash is on the Connect IQ listing for the epix (Gen 2) and all three epix Pro sizes: 42, 47 and 51 mm.
HYROX on a Garmin Enduro 4, 3 or 2
The Enduro 3 manual (September 2026) lists Obstacle Racing, Mixed Session and custom multisport, like the fēnix 8. The Enduro 2 manual (August 2025) lists Obstacle Racing and custom multisport, but not Mixed Session. Neither mentions HYROX.
Garmin announced the Enduro 4 on 6 October 2026. We found no Enduro 4 manual online on 7 October 2026, so its built-in options aren't checked here: look in its activity list on the watch.
As of October 2026, Hybrid Smash is on the Connect IQ listing for the Enduro 2, 3 and 4.
HYROX on a Garmin fēnix 7 or fēnix 6 Pro
The fēnix 7 and fēnix 6 Pro have no HYROX mode as of October 2026. Their built-in options are Obstacle Racing (press START, select Obstacle Racing) and custom multisport.
The fēnix 7 manual (August 2025) covers the fēnix 7, 7S and 7X, Pro editions included. The fēnix 6 Pro manual (June 2023) covers the 6 Pro, 6S Pro and 6X Pro. Neither mentions HYROX.
Both manuals give the same steps for custom multisport: press START, select Add → Multisport, enter a custom name and select two or more activities. Two activity settings help with HYROX on both watches:
- Transitions times each changeover between legs separately.
- Repeat "records repeats for multisport activities", such as a swimrun, in the fēnix 7 manual's words.
On a fēnix 7, also check Auto Sport Change, which "automatically detects a transition to the next sport". Its manual makes it the default for multisport, so turn it off if you want LAP to decide every change.
In Garmin's triathlon steps for these watches, you press LAP to change sport. With transitions on, you press it at the start and end of each transition.
The limit: each leg is a whole sport change, and the activity can't name eight different stations. Neither manual says which activities can be legs, so check the list on your watch.
What's missing compared with the fēnix 8:
- Mixed Session isn't in either manual.
- Lap undo is described in the fēnix 7 manual, for activities with manual laps or sport changes, but not in the fēnix 6 Pro manual.
Custom multisport for HYROX covers the multisport setup and its limits.
As of October 2026, Hybrid Smash's Connect IQ listing includes the fēnix 7, 7S and 7X, with their Pro, Solar and Sapphire editions. It also lists the fēnix 6 Pro, 6S Pro and 6X Pro.
Hybrid Smash needs no multisport setup, because Race Day already follows the race order.
What about the fēnix 5 Plus, the standard fēnix 6 or the first Enduro?
Hybrid Smash isn't available for them. As of 7 October 2026, the fēnix 5 Plus, 5S Plus and 5X Plus, the standard fēnix 6 and 6S, and the first Enduro aren't on its Connect IQ listing. In the fēnix 6 line, only the Pro and Sapphire editions are.
The fēnix 5 Plus manual (May 2020) documents a Treadmill activity, lap recording and custom multisport, but neither Obstacle Racing nor Mixed Session. So record Garmin's Treadmill activity, or a run with GPS off, and press LAP at every changeover.
The standard fēnix 6 and first Enduro manuals (June 2023) match the fēnix 6 Pro manual: Obstacle Racing and custom multisport, but no Mixed Session and no lap undo. So use Obstacle Racing: press START, select Obstacle Racing, then press LAP at the start and end of each station.
Another app may list your watch. On 7 October 2026, the free ROXFIT watch app listed the fēnix 5 Plus series on Connect IQ. Two other free apps, HYROX Tracker: RoxTrack and RunLabs' Hyrox Tracker, listed the standard fēnix 6 and 6S, and RunLabs' also listed the first Enduro.
What is Hybrid Smash?
Hybrid Smash is a Garmin Connect IQ watch app that tracks and paces HYROX races, simulations and workouts while you do them. One press of the LAP button per changeover, and every run, station and Roxzone is timed, labelled and saved to Garmin Connect.
It is a one-time purchase on the Connect IQ store with no account, no subscription and no phone needed while you train. It offers Race Day (the official sequence of 8 × 1 km runs and 8 stations, with station targets for your weight class), Hyrox Sim, Free Training (pick the next station on the watch as you go), 8 ready-made HYROX workouts and 3 custom workouts.
It is built for the balance between simplicity and the right features: a clean screen, few options and a design nobody needs a tutorial for.
- Three controls run the session: LAP for the next segment, DOWN to undo a mistaken press, SELECT for the menu.
- Saved to Garmin Connect as Indoor Run, Outdoor Run or Cardio, depending on the Run Type you pick, with every segment as a lap.
- Works on most current Garmin watches, including Forerunner, fēnix, epix, Venu and vívoactive models. Check your model on the Connect IQ store.
- On screen: Hybrid Smash keeps the watch screen to what you need right now: what you're on, how long you've been on it, and what comes next.
FAQ
Does the Garmin fēnix 8 have a HYROX mode?
No. As of October 2026, the fēnix 8 has no HYROX mode, activity or profile, and its September 2026 manual never mentions HYROX. No Garmin watch has the "official Hyrox activity profile" that a hyroxvault.com post (3 March 2026) describes, and no Garmin activity auto-detects HYROX stations. The fēnix 8's closest built-in options are Obstacle Racing and Mixed Session.
Is a fēnix better than a Forerunner for HYROX?
Not for timing, if you compare current models. As of October 2026, neither line has a HYROX mode.
The fēnix 8 and Forerunner 970 manuals list the same three built-in options: Obstacle Racing, Mixed Session and custom multisport. Older models differ: the fēnix 7 lists Obstacle Racing, the Forerunner 965 doesn't.
Both lines run Connect IQ HYROX apps such as Hybrid Smash. So choose on fit, battery and price, and compare the Forerunner models for HYROX.
How do I add HYROX to my Garmin fēnix?
Two ways: install a Connect IQ HYROX app, or create a custom activity named HYROX.
On a fēnix 8, press START, then select Activities → Edit → Add → Copy Activity, pick an activity such as Cardio and name it HYROX. The copy adds no HYROX logic: it doesn't know the stations. A Connect IQ app such as Hybrid Smash puts the race order on your watch.
How do I set up my Garmin fēnix for HYROX?
Change four settings: Auto Pause off, Lap Key on, Auto Lap off and GPS off indoors. Auto Pause can cut slow stations such as the Sled Push from your times.
All four are in each activity's settings on the watch. The menu wording differs by model and firmware, so check your model's manual. Hybrid Smash can't override Auto Pause, so turn it off for running and for the Cardio activity type.
Can I see my run pace during HYROX on a fēnix or epix?
Yes, if each run is recorded as a run. Hybrid Smash's Race Day starts on Run Type Indoor: pace comes from the wrist sensor, which is an estimate, and reads --:-- until you're moving.
A paired footpod gives more reliable indoor pace. Since V26.2, live pace reacts in about 3 seconds. On Cardio, the default in Free Training, runs are timed and there's no live pace.
